These include the sender's name, address, phone, the recipient's name and address, the current date, a reference statement (usually beginning with “Re:”), the subject, and the main body. A modified block style letter is a common format used when writing a business letter. It varies slightly from a block style letter with the major difference being the placement of the return address, date, and complimentary closing.
Modified block differs from block style in that the date, sign off, and signature lines begin at the center point of the page line. The beginning of each paragraph is indented five spaces, along with the subject line, if used.
Modified block business letters use a slightly different format from the full block business letters. In the modified block style the return address, date, complimentary closing and the signature line are slightly to the right of the center of the paper.
