Highlight the range of text to be converted. Go to Data, Text to Columns. Click Finish. The numbers are no longer considered numbers stored as text.
Select all the cells that you want to convert from text to numbers. Click on the yellow diamond shape icon that appears at the top right. From the menu that appears, select 'Convert to Number' option.
To stop converting text string to number, you just need to format the cells as text formatting before you typing the string. 1. Select the cells you want to enter the text strings, and right click to display the context menu, then select Format Cells.
Add a helper column next to the column with the numbers to format. Enter the formula =TEXT(C2,"0") to the cell D2. Copy the formula across the column using the fill handle. You will see the alignment change to left in the helper column after applying the formula.
Type the formula =SpellNumber(A1) into the cell where you want to display a written number, where A1 is the cell containing the number you want to convert. You can also manually type the value like =SpellNumber(22.50). Press Enter to confirm the formula.
Click a blank cell formatted as a number cell and enter 1 in the cell. Go to Edit | Copy. Select the cells that contain the text values that you want to convert. Go to Edit | Paste Special. In the Operation section, click Multiply. Click OK.
