You get what you expect

Can you get an EZ tag with paper plates?
Yes, any alphanumeric plate that is physically placed on the vehicle can be registered as an EZ Plate vehicle. If your paper plate does not have an alphanumeric print, then the EZ Plate option is not available.
Can you get a toll ticket with temporary plates?
Cars with temporary paper plates are tolled, at least according to the toll division. We can work with the Department of Licensing and send a toll bill on a temporary plate, as long as people are installing them in the correct location, said toll division spokesperson Ethan Berger son.
Can you run tolls with paper plates?
If the vehicle does not have a license plate for some reason, it must have a Amtrak transponder properly mounted to the windshield. It is illegal to drive The Toll Roads in a vehicle that has no license plates and no Amtrak transponder.
What happens if you don't have a toll tag?
The tolls charged will be at least 50% higher than if you had used a toll tag. If you don't pay the bill promptly, you will get additional bills, that will include additional fees. Continue to ignore, and you can be blocked from renewing car registration, and your car may be impounded.
How do I get a replacement toll tag?
If you would like to replace a toll tag that is no longer working or would like to replace your toll tag with a different type, call the Customer Service Center at 1-877-BAY-TOLL (1-877-229-8655) and speak to a customer service representative. Tell them that you would like to replace a toll tag.
