Compile size limitFormula fields can't exceed 5,000 bytes when compiled. To compile size is the size of the formula (in bytes) including all the fields, values, and formulas it references.
You can write validation rule on Formula field. It will work. If your formula violates the validation, then validation rule will fire. But you cannot show validation message at particular field, only at top of the page.
You can't use long text area, encrypted, or Description fields in formulas. The value of a field can't depend on another formula that references it. You can't delete fields referenced in formulas. Remove the field from the formula before deleting it.
Explanation: Validation rules run when records are edited or created. This applies to records being imported or submitted via web-to-lead where invalid records will not be created.
Formula cannot use another formula field that directly or indirectly refers to itself.
Forbidden fields include formula fields containing functions that derive values on the fly, such as DEVALUE, NOW, and TODAY. Formula fields that include related object merge fields are also not allowed in roll-up summary fields.
1 Answer. You can create up to 2 Master-Detail Fields on a single Object and with Winter '16, the default limit on roll-up summary fields per object has been increased from 10 to 25.
2 Answers. A Roll up Summary field is used to calculate the sum of a field in the child object record. It is compulsory to be in a Master-Detail relationship to use the roll up summary. A rollup summary field is always created on Master record.
Select the cell with the formula, and then click Cells on the Format menu. Click the Number tab. Select the cell with the formula, press F2, and then press ENTER. In the same cell, click Cells on the Format menu. Specify the category and format options for the cell and then click OK.
Select the cell or range of cells that contains the formula. Click Home > Copy (or press Ctrl + C). Click Home > arrow below Paste > Paste Values.
