To begin the WOMB or WE certification process you can go through four SBA-approved third-party certifiers, or you can self-certify through the SBA.
It's possible to self-certify your business as a WOMB or EDW OSB through the SBA. Simply register with the System for Award Management (SAM.gov), visit Certify.SBA.gov and provide all requested documents. But self-certification has some issues.
Read the WOMB Compliance guidelines/requirements. Complete the documentation and submit to the local certifying Regional Partner Organization in your area. The WOMB certification process will take approximately 30 days.
A Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WE) is defined as one that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled on a daily basis by one or more female American citizens. Woes are typically certified by a third party, city, state or federal agency.
The WOMB program limits certified organizations to specific NAILS codes whereas the WE usually does not. Additionally, some WE certified companies have no requirements on size whereas WOMB requires that the company meets the size standard as defined by the SBA.
Businesses must be certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to qualify for SUB status. FAR Subpart 19.304 requires a SD Bat the time of its offer (prime or subcontracting) to have certification from SBA or to have completed and submitted a SUB application.
In the CCR, you may self-certify yourself as a small business, but you must meet the Federal government's definition of a small business. Obtain a D-U-N-S Number You will need to obtain a Dun & Bradstreet D-U-N-S® Number.
