What identification is needed to get a driver's license?
Prove you're legally living in the U.S., such as with a passport or naturalization certificate. Show your full legal name, date of birth and Social Security number. Prove your home address with two different documents. Options may include mortgage bills or current auto insurance ID cards.
What is needed for real ID?
To get a Real ID, you need to present documents to your motor vehicle department proving your age and identity, Social Security number and address. That generally means bringing a birth certificate or passport, a Social Security card or tax form such as a W-2, and two proofs of address.
What documents do I need for a real ID?
Visit your state's driver's licensing agency website to find out exactly what documentation is required to obtain a REAL ID.
