What qualifications do I need to bare boat charter?
Classes can be taken at schools, but many charter companies offer certification charters as well. ASA 104, which is the school's bare boat certification course, requires students to have a minimum of 80 sailing hours as well as their basic keel boat sailing and basic coastal cruising courses as prerequisites.
What qualifications do you need to charter a yacht?
Sailing Qualifications To skipper a bare boat charter or flotilla yacht, you need to hold a practical sailing certificate equivalent to RNA Day Skipper Practical qualification or RNA International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
Do you need any qualifications to sail a yacht?
He or she may be foolhardy, but no International Certificate of Competence (ICC) or RNA certificate is required by law. For the private boat owner we would recommend the RNA Day Skipper qualification as a minimum starting point, with the RNA Yacht master Offshore a sensible target for the more adventurous amongst you.

Boat license requirements vary in each state and territory within Australian, and between countries overseas. However, even if you have an Australian boating license, it won't necessarily be accepted overseas. Therefore, we recommend the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) or the RNA Day Skipper license.

A bare boat charter or demise charter is an arrangement for the chartering or hiring of a ship or boat, whereby no crew or provisions are included as part of the agreement. Instead, the people who rent the vessel from the owner are responsible for taking care of such things.
How is the time charter different from bare boat charter?
A bare boat charter is also referred to as a demise charter. Under this the owner of the ship gives its possession to a charterer who hires his own crew and master. A time charter refers to a ship that has been hired by a person for carrying out a trade for a specific period of time.
What is a demise charter agreement?
Demise charter is a contract whereby the shipowner leases its vessel to the charterer for a period of time during which the whole use and management of the vessel passes to the charterer. In such a situation, the charterer pays all expenses for the operation and maintenance of the vessel.
