A locate request is a communication between an excavator and one call center personnel in which a request for locating underground facilities is processed.

LOCATE TICKET CLASSIFICATIONS. REGULAR TICKETS: These are standard tickets that can either be phoned or Fax-A-Locate and requiring 2 business day advanced notice prior to excavation. The 2 business days advanced notice does not include the day the request was made.

How long are my marks valid? Utility location marks are good while visible but only for 30 days. This means that as long as the marks are protected and not destroyed, you may dig for 30 days with your original marks.

8-1-1 is the nationwide toll-free number for locate services and is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. You can also dial 1-800-482-7171 or 248-370-6400 before you dig. Only one locate request per phone call is allowed.
