What is a locked groove?

Noun. Locked groove (plural locked grooves) The inner groove on a vinyl record in the form of a closed loop, which traps the tonearm and needle, preventing it from entering the label area.

How long is a locked groove?

A locked groove is a continuous loop of music the length of one full rotation of the record. Locked grooves can be silent but are usually used to repeat about 1.5 seconds of music until you pick up the needle. This is not necessary to keep the needle from playing the label at the end of the side.

What is the size of a 78 record?

Size. 33 RPM records are the largest, usually measuring 12 inches in diameter. 78 RPM records are usually 10 inches in diameter.

How do I find out what my vinyl records are worth?

Step 1: Identify The Record Version Some are worth less than $5. If the record has a barcode, scan it with the Discos App to find it immediately. If that's not an option, look for a Catalog Number, often found on the sleeve or pressed on the inner ring of the vinyl itself, or search using the barcode number.
