A Great Source for Reference
As soon as I came across PDFFiller I immediately subscribed. Any time I need to make a fake document for a Movie or TV show I go right to the site and look up what I'm trying to mimic. 9 times out of 10 I find what I need.

How do I create a color code map?
Open your map. Click Add. Select Boundaries. Select the boundary you want to add to your map. Choose Paste Colors from a Spreadsheet. Click Download a Sample Spreadsheet. Open the template in Excel. Copy and paste the updated spreadsheet into Map line.
How do I create a custom map?
Open Google Maps and click the menu button in the top left corner. Click Your Places > Maps > Create Map. Name your map and enter a description. Add markers for your desired locations.
How do they color the US map?
Change the color for all states in a group by clicking on it. When ready, select Preview Map. To download the generated map: Right Click → Save Image or select Download Map. In case you want to change something, select Edit.
How do they color the map of the United States?
Click on any country/state on the map to change its color. Add the title you want for the chart's legend and choose a label/description for each color. Select Preview Map and go ahead and download the generated map chart.
