IPC India offers two Designer Certification programs, CID (Basic) and CID+ (Advanced) to electronic companies from India as well as neighboring countries. These courses are offered at the IPC India Training Center, Bengaluru.
Certified IPC Trainer candidates are sent by their parent companies to receive intensive training on the IPC-A-610 from an IPC authorized certification center. Candidates are certified once they complete their course of study and pass the certification examinations.
Institute of Printed Circuits, Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits. IPC is a trade association whose aim is to standardize the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies.
IPC A-610, Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies, is the most widely used inspection standard in the electronics industry and has earned an international reputation as the source for end-product acceptance criteria for consumer and high reliability printed circuit assemblies.
The two documents are related, but there are significant differences. IPC-A-610, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies, is a visual acceptance standard. J-STD-001, on the other hand, is a materials and process requirements standard that also provides written acceptance criteria with a limited number of illustrations.
IPC J-STD-001, Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, has emerged as the preeminent authority for electronics assembly manufacturing worldwide. The standard describes materials, methods and verification criteria for producing high-quality soldered leaded and lead-free interconnections.
IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies, is modeled after IPC-A-610. IPC's most widely used standard with an international reputation as THE source for end product acceptance criteria for consumer and high reliability printed circuit board assemblies.
J Standard, or it's more official title IPC J-STD-001 is a standard that lists the requirements for the manufacture of electronic assemblies. This standard especially emphasizes process control and provides an industry-level standard for a broad range of electronic products.
