For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Are Signature Stamps Legal? The short answer is. yes, you can generally use signature stamps as a legal authorizing mark. So long as your stamp is intentionally used and validated by you or an authorized representative you appoint, a signature stamp can serve as a legal form of signing.
Place one line through the existing notary certificate, initial near the line, and write the words, “see attached” at the bottom of the document. Then the notary can proceed to complete, sign, and stamp the loose certificate and staple it to the document.
Place the printing surface of your stamp flat on the document — not at an angle. Hold your stamp with your thumb and fingers — not the palm of your hand. Quickly press and release.
Some states prohibit their notaries public from notarizing documents with a signature stamp. However, the notary statutes in some states merely state that the notary shall sign and affix a notary seal to the certificate at the time of the execution of the notarization.
The notary will use this stamp and fix it to the proper notarial wording prescribed by law and fill in the exact date, place of notarization etc. and sign their name and stamp it. If the notary stamp is expired, at the time of the notarization, then the notarization is not legal or in effect.
The notary must know and follow state notary laws. Usually the stamp or seal is placed near the notary signature. The stamp or seal should not interfere with reading anything on the document.
Step 1: Personal appearance is required. Under California law, every signer must personally appear before you at the time of the notarization. Step 2: Check over the document before notarizing. Step 3: Carefully identify the signer. Step 4: Complete your journal entry. Step 5: Fill in the notarial certificate.
Notaries Can Not Notarize Their Own Documents The short answer is no, a notary public cannot legally notarize his or her own document.
