How is a watermark made on paper?
Traditionally, a watermark was made by impressing a water-coated metal stamp or dandy roll onto the paper during manufacturing. If these lines are distinct and parallel, and/or there is a watermark, then the paper is termed laid paper.
What is the purpose of watermarks on a document?
A watermark is a faded background image that displays behind the text in a document. You can use them to indicate a document's state (confidential, draft, etc.), add a subtle company logo, or even for a bit of artistic flair.
How does a watermark work?
Originally a watermark is a more or less transparent image or text that has been applied to a piece of paper, another image to either protect the original image, or to make it harder to copy the item e.g. money watermarks or stamp watermarks.
What is a watermark in computer?
A watermark is a logo, text, or pattern that is intentionally superimposed onto another image. Its purpose is to make it more difficult for the original image to be copied or used without permission. Pictured at right is an example of a watermark applied to a digital image.
Why does resume paper have watermark?
High-end resume paper normally has a watermark of the name of the paper company and is slightly heavier in gauge than normal copy paper. If the paper has a watermark you need to make sure it is only visible when held up to a light, so it doesn't distract the reader.
Does resume paper make a difference?
Currently, the type of paper you use for a good resume rarely makes a difference. There is little need to purchase an extremely expensive or fancy resume paper, just one that has a slightly heavier composition than regular copy paper and one that will not smudge.
Do you really need to resume paper?
The answer is: none. It is perfectly acceptable to print your resume on a regular white piece of paper from home with your printer. In the “old days”, you'd use the same resume for every job and most employers would be receiving your resume in the mail.
