Is a paper planner better than digital?
Digital planning apps are also (usually) significantly cheaper to buy than paper planners, and you don't have to replace them after each planning cycle. Like with paper planners, though, I see two downsides: First, if you're using more than one app, it's easy to forget where you put an entry.
Why are paper planners better?
You're less distracted paper planners, many people highlight notifications and reminders. With your phone by your side all the time, planning apps can have recurring reminders and ding at the exact time when you need to take out your dog or plan out your finances for the month.
Are planners worth it?
Your planner helps you get more done each day, and you feel less stressed. To me, a planner is worth the splurge only if you really love it and will really use it on a daily basis. It's far too easy to get caught up in the idea of planning but not actually using your planner regularly.

Have a regular daily planning session. Have a regular weekly planning session. Use the monthly section. Use a single planner for everything. Make your steps concrete. Check your planner a lot. Choose a small passport or regular sized planner. Don't stress about filling it up.
