To turn off a field code for a specific field, click on the field and press Shift+F9 instead. Click the Office button and select "Word Options" to turn off field codes by default. Select the "Advanced" tab in the "Word Options" window. Scroll to the "Show document content" section.

To turn off a field code for a specific field, click on the field and press Shift+F9 instead. Click the Office button and select "Word Options" to turn off field codes by default. Select the "Advanced" tab in the "Word Options" window.
Choose the Field option from the Insert menu, then choose the field name from the list of fields presented. When you click your mouse on OK, the field you requested is inserted in your document. Press Ctrl+F9. (This is the easiest method, regardless of your version of Word.)
Open the document. Select Tools, Options from the menu bar. Select the View tab and mark the Field Codes checkbox. Change the Field shading option to Always and click OK.
Previous versions of Word Open the document where the field codes are displayed. 2. Press "Alt+F9" to turn off field codes currently on the page. To turn off a field code for a specific field, click the field and press "Shift+F9" instead.
To toggle between the field code and its resulting value, select the entire field and press Shift + F9. To toggle all the fields in your document, press Alt + F9. So if you open a document and see field codes instead of results, simply press Alt + F9 to toggle them all.
Open the Word document. Press CTRL+A on your keyboard to select all the text within the document. Right-click, then click Toggle Field Codes. Press CTRL+SHIFT+F9 on your keyboard. This will remove the field codes, replacing them with the text they contained. Save the document.
To toggle all of the merge fields in a document, press Alt+F9. Merge fields can be nested and to enclose existing merge fields within a new merge field, select the existing merge field and press Ctrl+F9.
Open the document. Select Tools, Options from the menu bar. Select the View tab and mark the Field Codes checkbox. Change the Field shading option to Always and click OK.
