Very quick, efficient and courteous customer service. My elderly mother subscribed to this service and couldn't remember why. How should zip code be written?
The zip code is written at the end of the address, typically after the City and State. A zip code is always 5 digits. Zip+4 adds four digits to the five digits, and is not needed for a complete address. Zip codes are the postal code used by the US Postal Service.
What is your zip or postal code?
What's the difference between Zip Code and Postal Code. ANSWER: The two codes are essentially the same in their purpose, but the term Zip code is mainly used in the USA. Postal Code is commonly used in other countries.
Does ZIP code include state?
Short answer, YES! There are sister cities for every zip code. Meaning that frequently a specific zip code will get mail for another similar zip code because the sender transposes a number. If the city and state are clearly indicated the manual handling of the tailpiece will correct the error and sent it on its way.
Do ZIP codes span States?
ZIP Codes are Lines, Not Shapes ZIP Codes are not drawn according to state boundaries. In fact, since they are designed only to increase mailing efficiency, ZIP Codes can and do cross county and state boundaries. For example: 42223 spans Christian County, Kentucky, and Montgomery County, Tennessee.

Do you have to put a ZIP code on a letter?
A letter without a ZIP code may not reach its intended destination. That is because of the way addresses are read by automated postal systems. Processing machines read addresses from the bottom up. The first line the machine sees has a ZIP code, city and state.
Will a letter arrive with the wrong zip code?
But if you happen to put the wrong ZIP Code, in most cases when it gets to the incorrect ZIP Code someone will look up the correct ZIP Code for you and corrected on your parcel. The only time he can get miss delivered is when the same street happens to exist in the wrong ZIP Code that you placed on the package.
