Open the Settings app from the home screen. Go to Mail > Notifications > VIP. If you don't see these menus, go to Notifications > Mail > VIP. Pick an alert style for very important emails.
In the From field, type in the name and/or email address of one of your closest contacts, or anyone whose incoming mail messages should trigger a special Android notification. Once you've created a filter in Gmail, you can set your filtered messages to get stamped with a VIP label.
Open up the Gmail app. Tap in the upper left corner and then on Settings. Select the email account where you're receiving important email. Make sure Notifications is checked. Scroll down and tap on “Manage labels”
On your computer, open Gmail. In the top right, click Settings. Scroll down to the “Desktop notifications” section. Select New mail notifications on, Important mail notifications on, or Mail notifications off. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
