Service only needed once
I'm in my 89th year and only needed to send in the form once...I didn't know that I was subscribing to ongoing service. I live on Social Security supplemented by savings so I can't afford $96 per year for a service I only needed once. Thank you for the time I did need you.

Overall, this is a great software. I use often , and find it very helpful.
I mostly enjoy being able to use this software on my cell phone, and then able to complete PDF's when normally this would not be possible.
I love this software, but it is sometimes difficult to use. The features are not as basic as I'd like.

How tall should hay be before cutting?
This allows for a very close cutting height if so chosen. Cutting low (1 to 2 inches) results in more yield. A past Wisconsin study showed about a 0.5 ton bump in dry matter yield for each additional inch that alfalfa-cutting height was lowered from 6 to 2 inches over a three-cutting season.
What height do you cut hay?
For hay production of cool-season pastures, mow or graze before seed heads develop, and down to 3 to 5 inches. For warm season pastures, mow or graze down to 8 to 10 inches for proper regrowth.
How do you know when hay is ready to cut?
Now that you've cut the hay you need to know when it's dry. The way I learned to see if it is dry is to reach under the windrow and feel the bottom of the hay. If the hay feels moist, then it's not ready to bale. An easy test to do to see if hay is ready and bend it in half.
What is the best time to cut hay?
It's best to cut grass pastures from the boot stage to the early head stage for the first cut, and then 4 to 6 weeks afterwards. The late boot level might best be described as when the seed head first pops out of the sheath. The early head stage is when the plant has grown about another foot or so.
How long should hay dry before baling?
As a rule of thumb, wait to rake hay until after the dew has dried and the sun nears its peak, around 11 a.m. If possible, let the raked hay sit for an hour or two before baling to allow more drying time.
How do you cut hay by hand?
The proper method cutting hay by hand: stand with your legs apart and knees slightly bent. Three ropes tied around the width and a fourth wrapped lengthwise hold together each 70- to 90-pound bate of sun-dried hay. Swing your scythe and torso from right to left, concentrating on a smooth, whole-body pivot.

Hay saw. Description. Hay knife with serrated steel blade and two wooden handles. Before hay was baled it was harvested long and placed in hay stacks, or it was lifted into barn lofts with slings or forks. When this loose hay settled it was very difficult to remove from the stack.
Can you cut hay with a lawn mower?
If you want to produce junk hay then use the Rotary Mower, if you want to produce a quality hay that will contain more nutrients for your livestock then use a mower designed to harvest forages like a sickle bar mower, disc mower, or a Mower Conditioner.
