How do I find out my record date?
The record date will usually be the day following the ex-dividend date, which is the trading date on (and after) which the dividend is not owed to a new buyer of the stock. To be eligible for the dividend, you must buy the stock at least two business days before the record date.
What must be done on the date of record?
The record date is the cut-off date used to determine which shareholders are entitled to a corporate dividend. The record date will usually be the day following the ex-dividend date, which is the trading date on (and after) which the dividend is not owed to a new buyer of the stock.
What is effective date of dividend?
The ex-dividend date for stocks is usually set one business day before the record date. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend.
Can you sell on record date?
Record Date Selling. While it is possible to sell a stock during the two days before the record date and still receive the dividend, the loss on the stock will probably equal or exceed the dividend amount.
What is ex date and entitlement date?
Ex-dividend date: To be eligible for a dividend payout, you need to purchase your shares before (not on, or after) the ex-dividend date. Entitlement date: This is the date on which a company checks its records to see who should receive the dividend. Payment date: This is the date that you'll receive your dividend.
Will I get dividend if I buy on record date?

Can I sell on record date and still get dividend?
Another important note to consider: as long as you purchase a stock prior to the ex-dividend date, you can then sell the stock any time on or after the ex-dividend date and still receive the dividend. A common misconception is that investors need to hold the stock through the record date or pay date.
Can you buy a stock just before the dividend?
You must buy the stock before the ex-dividend date in order to be a stockholder of record, and thus be eligible to receive the dividend for this quarter. If you buy the stock on or after the ex-dividend date, you will not receive the dividend. Place your buy order through your broker.
