How do you mark inaudible in transcription?
If you cannot hear what word is being said, mark that as inaudible or unintelligible and specify the time. When a speaker is using conjunctions like “and”, “so”, or “but” to connect longer stretches of thought, it's often a good idea to create sentence divisions in those places.
How do you mark unintelligible in transcription?
Every sentence should end with a punctuation mark. Except when the sentence ends with a double dash which means the sentence was incomplete, or an unintelligible or inaudible mark when you cannot be sure whether the sentence is a question or not. The beginning of every sentence should be capitalized.

Do you use punctuation in transcription?
At the most basic level, you need to use appropriate punctuation, even in verbatim transcription. For example: A period ends a sentence or sentence fragment or phrase, unless the person is cut off. You'll read more about that in the Abrupt Speaker Shifts section.
How do you use inaudible tags?
An inaudible tag should be used when unintelligible or inaudible word(s) are spoken. This may happen due to difficult audio quality, a sound (such as a car horn) obscuring the main speaker, or recording issues. An inaudible should never be used in place of research.
What is a phonetic tag?
The phonetics tag can help text to speech systems to pronounce the name of several items (streets, towns, Lois, etc.) So phonetics corresponds to name, phonetics:DE corresponds to name:DE.
Which tags should be bolded in transcription?
Speaker Labels must always be used with a colon, include a hanging indent and be bolded. The goal is to make all the speakers' names stand out so that the transcription is more digestible to the reader.
What are speaker tags in transcription?
Speaker labels are words used to identify a person speaking in an audio. The label is usually the speaker's name, role or other identifying attribute. The speaker label should be followed by a colon and space. Also, capitalize each speaker label word.
