How do I lock my SIM card?

Go to Settings. Tap on the More tab. Tap Security. Tap Set up SIM card lock. Tap Lock SIM card (Figure A) Enter the default SIM PIN. Tap OK.

How do carriers lock phones?

The term “locked” refers to a device being “SIM locked”. What this means is that the phone locked to that specific carrier and all the settings are optimized for that carrier. If you put another carriers SIM into the phone then it will not work until you get the phone unlocked by the carrier who supplied it.

Can you unlock a network locked phone?

Yes, you can unlock your network locked phone without buying an unlock code. For this you have to ask your service provider to get the unlock code. One another method to unlock your phone for free by using software, but it is not recommended as it may damage your device.

Can you unlock a locked phone?

When a handset is locked it means it will only work with the provider from whom you bought it. If your phone is locked it won't automatically become unlocked when your contract expires with your provider. You'll have to specifically ask your carrier to unlock it.

Can I unlock my phone myself?

The simplest way to unlock your device is to ring your provider and ask for a Network Unlock Code (NFC). Most will provide you with one and some even do it for free once your contract is up. Once you're provided with the code you should be able to enter it into your phone to remove the lock.

Can you unlock a locked iPhone?

How do you unlock a phone without the password?

Can you unlock your phone if you still owe money on it?

If you bought your phone outright, it's considered a “prepaid” device and can be unlocked one year after its initial activation. So if you owe money, your carrier doesn't have to unlock your phone. In either case, if your phone is eligible for unlocking, your carrier has to notify you.
