How ear tagging is done?

It is recommended to clean the tagging site of any debris to ensure that infection does not arise. The applicator should then be placed over the tagging site with the stud to the back of the ear and the button to the front. Once everything is placed correctly squeeze the trigger quick and firm.

Why is ear tagging cattle important?

Ear tagging livestock important for identification. BEING able to identify individual animals on your property is critical to good farm management. Ear tags are available for most livestock, although they aren't commonly used on dairy goats due to high rates of infection.

Why do cattle have ear tags?

Plastic livestock ear tags are the most common form of tag because they are cost-effective, and they are highly visible. They are most often used to show numerical sequence for identity. Some farmers will identify their females sequentially when the animals reach maturity and enter the herd.

Do ear tags hurt cows?

Those are called ear tags, and they're important. Ear tags make it possible for us to identify each calf, heifer, steer, cow and bull and keep accurate records about them.
