Books would be in every home by now, but they would be few, because few people understood what was good about them and so did not appreciate it. We are not living in such a culture and books would also have disappeared from society. I hope not! For instance, I like to think that some of the greatest books, such as Robert Browning's The Lord of the Flies, are not appreciated. They are not considered good literature.
