Asking them how to save the most money their student loans its kind of like going to the IRS and asking them how to save the most or their taxes do a little suck who wants to pay them no one hello everybody this is Larry Morrison founder of college loan freedom, and I'll be your expert guide through this short video and today were gonna talk about the employment certification form now I have a whole video all about public service loan forgiveness this is only for the people that have or are trying to obtain public service loan forgiveness and I get these questions a lot, so I wanted to make a video about it about the employment certification form in specifically, so this form does a number of different things, but it enters you in to the forgiveness plan meaning that you are ideally in some kind of income driven plans that way you have money left over to be forgiven at the end of the ten years, but the employment certification form is what physically for lack of a better term or literally counts each month or each payment that you made toward the hundred and twenty monthly payments of forgiveness so lets say you have all the right type of loans you have all the right payment plan you've been paying on that payment plan and oh look like this you've been paying on that payment plan, and you send in the form well that form is going to have fed loan servicing you always send it to fed loan servicing they're going to go back and count the time that when you enter it into the plan when everything started as far as when the loans became direct when you started paying or when you entered into this job that qualifies they're going to start it, and they're going to count every payment from that start point to what's on the form as far as when it was signed and submitted and when the employer signed off on it so that chunk of time will then count so lets hypothetically say for ease of this example you just left school and its May of the year, and you just started paying June first so June first you're paying, and you obviously work at least 30 hours a week for a non-profit and for some reason its December and you send this stuff in the employment certification form they're going to go back from June first when you first started paying, and you've already got the 30 hours a week, so they're going to count June through December through when the form was submitted, so now you have six months or seven months six or seven months that is gonna count toward the hundred and twenty okay now every single year you recertify your income driven repayment you want to submit this form as well that way its always clocked, so they're never gonna count anytime in the future so let's say again you went to you started paying in June you've been working since forever at this job that's a non-profit or government entity 30 hours a week you submitted in December the employment certification form they counted all that past six months so the next year that you go to recertify your...
