He is retiring to take a position as Executive Director of KPMG, LLP, Washington, DC. Ferguson is the sixth OIL and first African American to serve in this position at the OIL since inception. This report is the fifth in a series of reports to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the Committee on Appropriations, Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on the FY2010 Inspector General Budget. September 30, 2010 -- KPMG, a global leader in information technology (IT), announced today that, after 25 years, Michael D. Ferguson has resigned as Chairman. Ferguson, 70 and a resident of Bethesda, Maryland, has been President and CEO of KPMG since November 2011. Ferguson has also served as Chief Executive Officer of KPMG since 2003 and as the Chairman of KPMG's Global Information Services Group since 2000. Ferguson started at KPMG in 1975 as an associate in the London office and is a graduate of Harvard Business School. Ferguson is a member of The American College of Auditing and Certified Public Accountants and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the National Association of Small Business Utilizers and the Executive Council for Public Accounting; the Executive Council for State Public Finance Officers; the National Board of Accountancy's International Advisory Council; and the National Board of Accountancy's International Executive Council.
