The report contains proposed environmental regulations for disposal of “HAP” and “HAP-V” for a range of hazardous air pollutants. As with many of the proposed standards the NNSA has been working with the industry and stakeholders for several years on draft guidelines for the disposal of all or parts of hazardous air pollutants in specified waste material facilities and has been using industry input on these standards during the evaluation process. This report is intended to provide the public with a summary of the final EPA regulatory provisions for environmental hazards and air pollution-related actions involving “HAP and HAP-V” as proposed in this report. This report has been developed as part of the EPA's review process and as such, no regulatory decision regarding the final standards or the actions described herein has been made. As there are many issues, the Department of Energy is working with the industry to provide the public with the most current and accurate information about the issues involved. This report is a summary of the draft EPA regulations and does not constitute legal or regulatory guidance. The National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (Perhaps) are EPA's primary regulatory authority for the disposal of hazardous air pollutants. This report is intended as a means to summarize the draft regulations in this section, or parts of it if appropriate. This report includes a description of the hazard categories, and a description of the proposed Environmental Response Guidelines (ERGO) is included on a separate page on this website (). You will be able to obtain copies of the draft regulations from the NNSA by following these links: . The Environmental Response Guidelines is the EPA's environmental response for the disposal of hazardous air pollutants by facilities where specific HAP and HAP-V emissions have been demonstrated to be present. HAP and HAP-V are emissions of volatile organic compounds (Vows) and non-HAP chemicals (including toxic metals, organic peroxides, and hydrocarbons). The EPA has approved the use of the EPA's environmental response guidelines for the disposal of non-HAP chemicals (see below for a listing of the EPA HAP-V specific standards).
