If more than one property or district is included in the nomination, submit the form for that entire district. The National Register of Historic Places is a listing for properties and districts located in U.S. jurisdictions where historical significance is claimed by the registrant or subject to the jurisdiction of the Registered. The Register uses the criteria listed below to determine the inclusion of an individual historic property or district in its listings: A property's historic significance may be based on either the type of property or the manner in which it is used. A historic resource's significance is determined not only by its historic significance in relation to historic interests, but also by its current use. The Register will not recognize a property as historical unless its use and the way in which the property is being used today are sufficient to establish a connection between the present use and historic significance. In making a determination of historic importance, the National Register makes a determination whether a property is significant (significant) according to the following standards: • The significance of a property is determined on the basis of the historical interest it has in the cultural heritage of the United States and the community based on which it was designated and maintained. For that reason it is possible, for example, that a property in a state might not reflect as a significant historical value a building in a different state. • The significance of a historical resource is determined on the basis of both the historical interest of the community, also called its local or primary cultural interest, and the current use of the resource. • The significance of an individual property or district is determined on the basis of its historical significance and its current use. The significance of an individual historic resource cannot always be directly linked to its current usage, but only to its overall relationship to the overall significance of the resource. A property is significant only when its history and current uses are in the same category, and it is not the case that each of these factors are independent. The National Register of Historic Places recognizes that the historical value of a property is not independent of its current use, but there are ways that the historical value of an individual property or district may be tied to its historical significance. For example, the use of an individual property or district may be associated with a connection between its continued value and the existence of other significant property. In determining an individual property to be of historical interest on the basis of its current use alone, the National Register considers both the historical significance of the property and its current and prospective uses.
