The F-22 will remain in operational use for four more years, and according to its maker, Lockheed Martin, there will be no cost overruns on the aircraft it has been given to train and deploy with to Iraq and Afghanistan. The F-22 has become a top priority of the U.S. military. An entire battalion of fighter jet pilots and technicians is at the F-22 base in Japan training to fly and maintain the aircraft. F-22 squadron commanders are also trained to conduct air combat missions, and many are called out to other countries to give air combat training. And the F-22s have become a part of the U.S. Marines, which are currently trying to replace the aging Marine Corps F-22s in service with 18 F-22s in the Marine Aviation units with the goal of ending F-22 service by the middle of this month.
