Board of Elections Meeting held on the 14th of July 2012, at 1805 Main Street, Austin, Texas 78701, at 9:30 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m.
Commissioners received the following reports at 12 noon.
1. Commissioners will vote on the adoption of the new county board policy, entitled, “A Vision for Texas and a Plan to be Followed in the Next Three Years.”

2. The County Commissioner will be meeting with the County Attorney to review an updated policy.
This was in addition to a meeting held at 5:15:
The President of the Board, Craig Holmquist, called the meeting.
Commissioners voted in an 8-2-1 vote to adopt the new county board policy on transparency.
3. Commissioners approved a financial report by the County Auditor and County Auditor, for the year ending June 30, 2012.
Chairman Layman stated the following:
“Commissioners, you are the leaders, you must lead!
There are four areas that we must fix. Transparency, Audit, Government Relations, and the County Fund.
All four of these things are important to the citizens of District 4. I must bring them back.”
Lana (District 1) and Holmquist (District 4) are both opposed to the board policy and the new policy, but except Lana, all the other commissioners supported the policy.
This vote marks an important step in the process to reform government service, transparency and accountability and is the result of two years of collaborative conversations and conversations. After this initial work, Commissioners will review and discuss the new policy and make any necessary changes.
