Under IVES, the taxpayer does not need to request IVES information. The taxpayer may choose to use IVES rather than obtaining an IRS transcript if the information from the IRS is not sufficient, or if the tax due on any given year is 2,000 or less. Under IVES, if the taxpayer requests the transcript and verification by an authorized third party, the taxpayer is asked to provide certain information from the IRS and the required documentation to the IRS to secure a transcript. IVES is the fastest and easiest way to resolve tax issues for customers who are interested in receiving a transcript and verification from the IRS without a long delay on our end. The following are specific instructions that must be followed: The taxpayer must contact WAS at the address shown below and provide the proper name and birthdate for the taxpayer, or the taxpayer may provide his or her social security number if he or she is eligible for a tax credit (see Notice 2004-34). The tax return information obtained via IVES must be validated by an authorized third party. A third party must submit a request that verifies the information received and the tax due information. The IRS cannot provide confirmation from an authorized third party with the taxpayer's consent. All the necessary forms can be obtained from the SBA's Website (). The taxpayer must provide all information requested in order for the appropriate tax return information to be issued. The tax return must be submitted through NETTLE. Please provide sufficient information so that NETTLE can prepare your return. The taxpayer must have WAS access to receive the appropriate tax return data and verify the information received. The required documentation is requested during the IVES validation process. Once the tax return information is verified and the return is submitted, the tax returns are electronically processed for processing or returned to the applicant. A WAS tax return validation notice will be generated in case IVES does not verify the information, and the taxpayer may receive additional notification of such validation on his or her tax return. Note: IVES is provided at no charge to taxpayers during the processing of their tax return. The taxpayer is not responsible for additional costs. The taxpayer should contact the responsible SBA office in his or her area to obtain additional documentation.
