“This scholarships program provides an opportunity for our low-income residents to attend college or trade school for those who may otherwise not have the opportunity,” said NYC HA Director Mary Beth Grant. “This opportunity creates greater economic opportunity for families and increases the opportunities to further their education.” This is a pilot program for two years and is currently accepting applications. In order to qualify it will cover the following: Up to 5 hours of full-time education with any accredited college or university.
Up to 2.5 years of full-time employment
Up to 4.5 years of full-time education at a high-needs institution, including:
Health Sciences: College Composition & Teaching
Economics: Social Theory, Public Policy and International Economics
English Language & Literature: Literature, Creative Writing and Screenwriting.
Vocational, Vocational/Apprenticeship and English Language/Literacy (VS/ELA) programs. Up to 4 years of employment with an employer.
Up to 5 years of full-time education and/or career service with any degree, certificate or certificate level program from an accredited or approved school of public service, higher education or vocational education.
Up to 12 years of service with the Department of Education in a position related to the education, including:
Educational Counselors or Special Education Teachers.
Facilities Manager, Superintendent, Facilities Manager or Maintenance
Faculty, Program Director or Teaching.
