Any reference in this specification concerning “fireproof materials”, or similar words or terms, shall refer only to the Class of material specified as appropriate. Fireproof materials shall be in accordance with the requirements prescribed in NFPA 72, and Section 15D of this specification. C. The term “fireproof” as used in these Specifications shall be restricted to materials which are classified at fire limits of 50 degrees Celsius, but shall not include the fire resistance (CBR) rating as defined in Section 15B.05 to 15B.25, inclusive. D. The term “fireproof materials”, or similar words or terms, shall not include the following materials: 1. Combustible material, such as asbestos; 2. Materials which the Administrator has classified as flammable at any temperature when used to construct or modify structures; 3. Materials for smoke control or fire protection, including but not limited to wood-burning stoves and pellet stoves, charcoal briquettes, wood pellets, wood shavings, wood products other than paper, cotton or other combustible fiber, cement, and clay; 4. Materials capable of containing a large volume of oxygen (not suitable for heating spaces more than 500 square feet or for use with radiant heat sources), except for non-combustible materials used exclusively as air conditioning systems and water heaters; 5. Materials capable of being applied to a space above a ceiling or to an interior wall, but not capable of containing a large volume of oxygen; 6. Materials used in electrical applications and systems; 7. Materials (i) capable of being applied to fire doors; (ii) fitted, modified, or incorporated in a mechanical device (e.g., door opener); (iii) included in a product such as a fire door or mechanism; (iv) included in products such as fire doors or fire alarms; or (v) used for opening or closing doors or windows, provided they are closed in an accident to prevent collapse or other hazardous conditions; 8. Smoke-sensitive or fire-exposed materials; 9. Material that is used or intended to be used in an elevator; 10. Materials which do not meet fire protection specifications and not recommended by National Fire Protection Association for fire protection of construction or dwelling units; © Fire Test-Requirements.
