As one gains experience with the various squatting, benching, chin-ups and snatch movements, the speed work is gradually replaced or done in phases of one or two speed workouts each session. With the progression of speed training, the speed work is gradually replaced and the main work of the training cycle is done to get a good pump and some endurance work going. Speed training can be done at various times of the day for different purposes, however, we generally recommend doing it as a warm-up period for a training session, such as before a squat session or before a max effort squat or deadlift. This can be done for about 10-20 minutes, but is still enough time for getting adequate work done, so the training session can still be done in a reasonable amount of time. Strength The term “strength” can be used loosely here. Speed/Strength or “power” is the most commonly used term, when referring to strength training.
