These changes were very apparent and clear to the trained eye. In the data, there were large trends in the population sizes of students coming into the school; the “routine” patterns of the population had all changed. In the data, and subsequent years, there were smaller, more subtle changes. The first small change was a difference in demographic characteristics between the high school and the middle school. In the high school, as the students left, the demographic characteristics of the students changed from mostly male to mostly female.
