I suggest a few criteria that will determine your nomination, or at least have some idea of how to judge a candidate. The following are just a few of these. First, is the candidate a student leader, employee, student volunteer or alum with leadership experience or training outside the student body? Second, will he or she has demonstrated leadership within a specific club? Third, is the student leader in leadership roles within community organizations? Lastly, is he or she is able to engage students and provide them with a sense of ownership and community. Some other factors that I consider include leadership ability, willingness to change and improve, ability to handle criticism and challenges, ability to make connections and influence on all levels, willingness to be held accountable for the results of actions, willingness to accept criticism and responsibility, and ability to motivate and motivate others. The goal is to select a winner from a list of finalists presented at the meeting. Any individual or team may be nominated. The nominee of the winner will receive an award that consists of 500 cash, two tickets to the NCAA football Bowl Championship or WAC Championship game (all are 300 each), and recognition from the university and university athletics department. It is my hope that each of you may be selected as a finalist and, when you return home and your team and/or yourself are recognized for your efforts, you will remember the joy for which you are deserving. Many of you may not think that you or your team earned the Paul Morning Award. I urge you to contact me  if that is the case. I will send you more information and an application. In the letter that will come with the award, I will ask you to provide your reasons for a nomination by stating why you were deserving.
