Guevara 26.03.06 Abstract In the last years, an increasing number of researchers have investigated and proven several aerodynamic concepts like the Hill and Fully criteria for the design of a smooth wing, the drag coefficients of the wing, the Hill and Turtle criterion for the drag of an airplane body and many others. The problem of prediction of fast moving air flow (Rapid-Grid) is at the forefront of these studies. However, the current results of these publications are still very preliminary and are still a long way from being in a form which can be used in simulations. In this course we will take another look in this field by applying a very novel technique which we have learned from a research program on the problem of aerodynamics in our university: in the study of the rapid-grid problem, we will show how rapid calculations of the shape and performance characteristics of a body in a fast, turbulent flows can be based upon the general concept of the Hill and Turtle criteria. We will show that if the theory is in fact validated through numerical simulations, this method will certainly become widely used when dealing with fast aerodynamic problems of a flight to the limit.
