From 2000 to 2006, the European Commission Cultural Activities Program (CAP) supported a range of culture-oriented initiatives from educational programs to cultural festivals and events. The program is designed to offer a long-term, multi-sectoral strategy of cultural activities on the part of the Palestinian Authority in support of the Palestinian people. It does not directly support organizations or political parties or direct funding to individual artists or cultural entities. CAP supports cultural activities in all areas: The program provides funding to Palestinian Authority institutions to support cultural activities in all areas: administrative, social, cultural and sports organizations, health and sports organizations, media, arts and cultural organizations, and educational and cultural institutions.
