It is our feeling that many more examples could be covered and applications that have not yet been thought of or tested could be investigated. 2. Problems: Aerospace Applications of Evolutionary Design. The first two problems for which evolutionary design has been used in the past are “design of a single wing and landing gear” (see Problem 1) and the “design of an airframe with a single and high-performance wing” (see Problem 2). In both cases, the results, when applied to a given design situation, provide a set of rules, which the designer is then encouraged to follow with the most stringent of criteria. These rules have proven very useful in some areas of aviation. 3. References. These notes will not be exhaustive and there is likely to be a lot more that has not been tested and explored. However, they should provide a starting point for those wishing to explore the area. 4. Author Bio Steve Sartori. Department of Aerospace Engineering, Stanford University 650 Amphitheater Dr, P.O. Pavlov Department of Mechanical Engineering Stanford University 650 Amphitheater Drive, Stanford, CA 94 - USA - E-Mail: — This note introduces the use of evolutionary control in aeronautical design. The evolution process involves the selection of changes in an organism, or in a population of organisms, that lead to a further modification of the organism and a further modification of the population. This modification process is a key consideration in any evolutionary process whether that change involves changing a gene or a population size. These processes have been extensively studied in the field of genomics. There are thousands of genes that affect human behavior, health, language, and behavior in animals. Many have been genetically modified, either by mutation or by artificial selection. Many of the most common human diseases have been linked to these mutations. Since so much of the variation in the human genome comes from mutations that drive variation in expression, the use of this type of evolution in designing a system will often lead to rapid improvement. Using these principles, I present a set of design rules, that are designed to be followed, that will have the strongest impact during the initial phases of development of a particular airframe design.
