after their second-straight title. The defending Olympians beat England 38-17 in the final round of
European qualifiers on Saturday.
French goalkeeper, Sebastien Branch, said, “I am very happy with my team's performance in the
European final, and I am looking forward to the match in Beijing. We have to
control our nerves because China is a strong team with excellent players.”
Iceland coach and player Stand Sigurdsson added, “Iceland is a team of very strong performers. This team has
great character, and we respect our opponents. We want to enjoy playing in Beijing because this is an
epic stadium. We have a fantastic team going into the final, and we will try to win it as a
set. Of course, I am excited at the possibility of winning another Olympic medal in my

will take place on Sunday afternoon before the world's best handball players go
at the Beijing Paralympics.
American baseball star and two-time MLB All-star, Jason Variety, has played in all of
eight Olympic Games and was the captain of a gold-medal winning team at the Atlanta Games in 1996.
He was also an alternate at the 2004 Games in Athens and won a bronze medal at the Athens Games.
U.S. national team member and two-time World War II and Navy veteran, Mike Marshall, who won his
fourth medals at the Athens 2004 Games, has played in all eight Olympic Games as well.
It is expected that Marshall, who holds six records, including the most Olympic gold medals
among the three sports, will start for the U.S. against the Chinese players.
There will be many familiar faces in the field from the past four Games including the
US national basketball players (LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal).
