On its most recent quarterly return, the Government's Revenue Commissioners received a total of 7,945 applications to qualify as a Charity. These applications were assessed in February 2011 (the tax year). We were able to grant relief to a further 2,541 applicants through the application process in October and November 2010 which increased the number of applications received from 7,945 to 27,918 in the quarter of 2011 alone.

Yes. Any conditions that we impose will be based on the applicant charity's nature as a charitable organization and the extent to which it will work in Ireland in any way with other charities for social and/or public benefit.

An applicant must hold a CHY Number (charitable entity number), the date of its application and a statement of its intended charitable activities.
