SMART FARMING has grown into a 25 million, five-acre campus at the University of California Santa Barbara to bring a new level of farm education to the world. SMART FARMING's philosophy is “grow the mind, grow the food”–a concept that we believe promotes both a holistic approach to growing food and the opportunity for students to experience farm farming firsthand. Our campuses provide students with a rich learning experience and the opportunity to learn how a food-based lifestyle and a healthy diet can be achieved. Students learn about sustainable practices and the importance of nutrition and the value of local foods by learning first-hand how the farm is managed, and how their own food choices and actions affect the environment and their health.
