This study was conducted for the purpose of determining mineralogy from the ground as a basis for the development of a geometer on the east side of the Rocky Mount area where the mineralization of the rocks that lie over the Golden Pine mine is concerned. The objective behind this examination is to locate all the potential sources of rock mineralization, including source rocks (rock samples and the surrounding geological environment and soil) that will allow the survey program to be refined in order to refine the mapping system to establish a more precise and accurate target area for the geothermal and/or geothermal power plant potentials. The study provides a review of the existing mineralogy, geochemical interpretation and geophysical data collected at the site. The data was reviewed in order to determine the range of mineralogy characteristics present and the extent to which these characteristics can be identified by geophysical mapping techniques. In addition to identifying potential sources of mineralization at the Golden Pine site it is found that the current geotechnical mapping of the site will be improved once the geochemical and geophysical techniques used by the study team develop a set of geometrically equivalent rock formations in order to identify their extent and extent to determine the extent of mineralization potential. It is also discovered that the target area within the Golden Pine geologic feature would contain the remains of the abandoned Golden Pine quarry which was a high grade open cut ore deposit for many years before it was abandoned in 1979 by the mine operators. The target area is believed to contain two primary mineralization sources (MMI-M No. 2 and No. 3) that are both in the upper 90 meter and two upper 50 meter regions of the mine. In No. 2 an area of quartz (Cu-Au-Mo-Sr) mineralization exists on the upper 10 meters of the rock surface, with an amount of Ca-Mg-Cr occurring in the lower 60-metre range. In No. 3 an area of mica (Mg-Au-Mo-Nb) mineralization exists in the upper 60-metre range. As an alternative to the MMI-M study the MMI-M-2-1 study was conducted using more recently developed remote sensing data to map the potential locations of potential source rocks. This additional effort has resulted in three new target zones within the Rocky Mount area.
