He then returned to Winnipeg, after seven years in Montreal, in 1999 and joined the Insurance Department as an Operations Associate in a firm of about a dozen employees, where he continues to work today. Ken is the holder of the Certificate B.Sc. in Public Policy from the University of Guelph. In 2008, he held the title of Associate Professor of Insurance Law and Policy at the University of Winnipeg, a position he has held since 2009. His other interests include golf, music and cycling (specifically mountain biking in the winter). Ken is married to Lynn, who is a Canadian Council for Life Member. Ken is also the proud father of four children and six grandchildren. About the Instructors: Ken Decker is the President and CIP of Insurance Canada. He has held several positions in the department including Program Manager and President of the National Insurance Institute. In his current position he manages the annual National Insurance Code Conference and co-ordinates the development of the Ontario Insurance Commission Policy Framework to provide the province's insurance providers with access to the most current and relevant information. The title of Associate Professor of Insurance Law and Policy is currently held by Professor Eric MacKinnon. Ken has served as a panelist for several national conferences including the Canadian Institute of Insurance, Canadian Council of Insurance Professionals, National Insurance Institute, Canadian Society of Insurance Actuaries, Canadian Council on Insurance Management and other organizations. He has also been a member of numerous provincial and territorial insurance law committees. Ken is well known internationally as a lecturer for industry, regulatory, law and economics experts. Ken has also served on a number of Canadian regulatory panels including the Financial Services Authority of Canada, Competition Bureau of Ontario, Manitoba Insurance Bureau, Manitoba Insurance Department, Insurance Commission of Canada, Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Royal Insurance College of Canada, Insurance Institute of Canada, Institute of Actuaries, Insurance Information Institute, Insurance Council of Ontario, College of Life and Accident Actuaries, University of Edinburgh, Center for Finance, Regulation and Economic Growth. About the Instructor: Eric MacKinnon is a leading authority worldwide in the area of insurance law and policy. In his research, teaching and public service activities he has participated in the development of comprehensive insurance legislation throughout the world, worked closely with the insurance industry as a consultant, policymaker and consultant, and organized and participated in the development of extensive regulatory and regulatory codes.
