“ (5) In a sense, every member of the Church should be baptized. (Catechism) We must be baptized, before we enter the Church, in order that we be associated with Jesus as His companion while we are with Him and to signify our baptism and our association with Jesus, the Son of the Father, by means of a sign, namely Our Lord s water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. (6) Baptism of Christian Initiation is the beginning of the Christian life and the beginning or beginning of an association with Christ. Baptism is a symbol of the entrance of the Christian into full unity with Christ and into a new state of life in the one true Church of Christ (Morris Laetitia). (7) “By 'becoming' a Christian, one lives differently than before, in communion with Christ as His Father and 'sister', or 'wife' (Morris Laetitia, paragraph 29) (8) “A new state of life is created within the Christian body a new way of being-in the one true Church of Christ. This new mode of Being is experienced by each of us (cf. Catechism, nos. 3) by the grace of Jesus Christ living within us” (Catechism, nos. 3). So how is the baptized “part” of the Church? In the way the Spirit's indwelling Spirit, in each member of the baptized, by drawing them closer to communion with Christ and in communion with one another are called and sent into the same Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13-15; 2 Cor. 5:10. Cf. Catechism, nos. 3). In the same way the Spirit of baptism can give strength in times when the unity of Christ's Body, with Christ inside, is disturbed. Baptism is the source and basis of this indwelling Spirit; it gives the baptized a true knowledge of Christ as Lord and Lord (Phil. 2:15-18 (RSV)), an assurance of being led in the spirit of Christ and in the course of His life in the same Spirit.
