(2) The members of the Special Committee to which this motion relates: I move: That the Special Committee report back to the Legislative Assembly by 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2005, and make recommendations to the Assembly on the scope of its report and whether an inquiry should be held on the subject of the issue of the Northern Gateway Pipeline.

This House is not only interested in reviewing information on how the public input was utilized to provide policy recommendations, but also to consider the merits of bringing forward a private member's bill to be considered by this House to consider a public inquiry as the public has been allowed;
WHEREAS:
While no inquiry would be held, the public inquiry will allow for the sharing of information and the public hearing to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the subject of the proposal;
WHEREAS:
While there have been much public debate and comment on this subject, no formal report has been brought forward to address some key issues that were identified during this public input process;
WHEREAS:
A public inquiry is an exercise undertaken by Canadians to take back control of their government and to hold government officials accountable.
