If you hold more than one degree from an accredited Canadian medical school, you are considered to hold a PhD in Canadian Medicine. This award is funded by The Government of Guelph. To learn more about the program, call the Program Committee at or email us. Funding Availability The funds for this award may be approved based on a maximum of 5 awards in any given year. Dr. Michael Lee McDonough Award Program The Dr. Michael Lee McDonough award is a two-year research grant that supports post-graduate research in the following fields: Medical Anthropology, Environmental Health, and Biomedical Research. These awards will have two phases; the first will last 3 years and the second 3 years. The maximum number of awards that can be given in just one year is 5. There is no limit on the number of awards a student may receive. The Dr. Michael Lee McDonough award is administered by the Department and Faculty of Health of the University of Guelph. A one-year Fellowship of Research Experience is provided to students pursuing the fellowship. The Fellowship is held at The Ottawa Hospital for a limited time and is subject to space, etc. Students may apply for the McDonough Award during the Fall Term, Winter Term, or Spring Term of their studies, and apply for Fellowship of Research Experience at the same time. The maximum is 5 McDonough awards for one school year. Deadline: Applications are accepted from Jan 1st through Feb. 15th, 2009. . Acceptances are made by April 1st. McDonough Awards will be awarded in one-year increments for the next two years.
