An evaluation in the IETF TLV320AIC20/17/17C/20 system was performed on a C5402 board with a C54xx development interface. The evaluation showed a small improvement (less than 0.1%) if compared to the development interface version. This evaluation was carried out on the C53xxAIC30/39 and AIC20/21/24/25 boards to verify the performance in different types of environments. The TLV320AIC20/21/24/25 boards were used for the evaluation. EXAMPLE 1 Demonstration of MPEG-TS Codec Packages A demo/test device has been built to demonstrate the use of the MPEG-TS (Open Video Codec Standard) codec packages for MPEG encoding. Three types of video codecs are implemented for the samples. —AIC20 and AIC24 support video compression using the AIC20 and AIC24 codecs respectively. —The AIC20 and AIC24 use the C5340DSP DSP. The C5340DSP board is used for the codec conversion. The codecs are configured to use two channels. In the demo/test the codecs are configured to use three channels using two channels for each channel. The video is played using a video player that will convert to MPEG-TS. —Video samples were presented using a test player to convert from MPEG-TS to NTSC H.264. The C5340DSP DSP board outputs an 8-bits/channel signal after conversion. —The AIC20 and AIC24 codecs use the C54xx DSP. The C54xx produces the signal as C54xxT and outputs the video as MPEG-TS. This video sample was presented and played into a video player that will convert the raw AIC20/21/24/25 codec samples to MPEG-TS. The demo/test system and AIC20 codecs were used for the sample playback using the MPEG-TS demo/test system and the AIC20 codecs. EXAMPLE 2 Comparison of A/V Codecs The MPEG-TS project has developed a reference codec that is available to be compared with the C54xx audio codec. The MPEG-TS codecs supported in Filing's AIC20/21/24/25 AIC board is also available as separate A/V codec components that are available for additional applications.
