The association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Association is primarily located in Chelmsford and in the greater Boston area, though the memberships are spread throughout the United States. We believe in the continued importance of our association for many years to come. However, with changing times and needs, the Association's main purpose is to promote our interest in our heritage through the dissemination of historical information including genealogies, family histories, photographs, maps, and newspapers. We are not affiliated with any other groups, organizations or individuals, and we do not request financial or material donations or support of any type. Our primary objective is to encourage and assist those who desire to learn a little of their ancestry, and to assist our family members in finding an appropriate way to honor their roots. GORDON, Treasurer The Association was established on April 19, 1859, by Edmund, John, Mary and Henry Rice, Sr. Members include those who were directly related to the original Rice family and those who have been related to the family for the past 50 years or more. Our membership is broad. We do not care about our age, we see each individual as a great person and have no desire to put down any age. We feel this is the type of attitude we wish our descendants to have. This association is not for those who are looking for a job, trying to make money, looking for a title in life, looking to fill social roles, or looking for some type of recognition. We are not involved in any aspect of any “museum”, but those seeking genealogy or seeking the history associated with their family or place in time. The best way to learn something of our family history is to live a proper genealogy. That is all we are about. We have many members with many stories of their genealogy, but it is also important to realize that we have only touched the tip of the iceberg. We only have those stories that we are able to share with, or for others to see. Furthermore, we encourage you to ask the members of the association in question for a copy of their history. Furthermore, we have copies of the genealogies of various members at our headquarters in Chelmsford to view if you would like.
