The Ohio C constitute on the Environment will be hosting our inaugural seminar on Micro-Environmental Science: Biochemistry, Life, and Health. This is a one-day class covering the fundamental scientific principles which apply to the biology and biochemistry of the human body. Lecturers and trainers will discuss the biology and biochemistry of the human body and the impact of environmental toxins on health including: environmental endocrine disruptor exposure; diet; environmental chemicals and endocrine disruptors; personal toxicities; genetic disorders; and the impact of environmental toxins on the human immune system, the ability to regulate the metabolism and immune response. Students will be given practical examples of the application of biochemistry and biochemistry principles in the human body. The lecture and practical exercises on the biology and biochemistry curriculum will be presented by two leading scientists from the Ohio State University Department of Anthropology. Dr. John Beers is a professor in the Department of Anthropology and cofounder of the Center for Integrative Genomics at the University of Cincinnati where he is also on the Board of the Center for Science and Environment and the Board of the Center for Environmental Humanities At Ohio State University (OSU) and Professor Bruce P. Albert's is a professor of zoology at OSU. Dr. Beers has been teaching graduate courses in ecology, toxicology, and evolution for two decades. Professor Albert is a senior research fellow of the Ohio State University Department of Anthropology, currently a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his studies, Albert is the author of four books and numerous articles covering topics that relate to the human body including diet, genetic disorders, nutrition and obesity, toxicology, and health. Dr. Beers is the Editor of the international journal 'Bioscience International'. He has made many other scientific publications in journals including 'Annals of Comparative Biology', 'Fauna & Flora', 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London', 'Paleontology', 'Nature', 'Science', 'Journal of Applied Ecology', and others. Dr. Albert is an Associate Editor of Publications, 'Biology Today'. He is also Professor in the Department of Biology and Ecology at UNC.
