Net and the Bayview Project. These tools were developed to make the process of creating project documentation easier. To make this process more reliable and consistent, these tools were reworked to include documentation of the application programming components. In an effort to improve our application development process, we use Bayview application components to store our project documentation in a tree style. This tree style creates the possibility of using a single folder for building project documentation, which helps us to maintain consistency and maintain a single tree when updating the documentation. Defining a Bayview Application In the picture below, a project overview is shown. This overview describes the project names, descriptions, and the dependencies of the project. It also provides a description of the project dependencies that are not used by the application. The tree structure for the project information will be described in subsequent sections of this session. A diagram, in order to make it more clear for readers of the overview, is shown below. The diagram illustrates the tree structure used by the Bayview Project. The picture below shows an example of the project information tree view for an application called “Austin” that is being used to provide a database of information for a department in a Department Store. In the picture below, the project information view shows various project components such as project title, description, dependency and test. The green boxes are the types of documentation that are being stored in this file. These are the type of components that a customer may view on a website, or by downloading the application. Figure 3-1 Creating the Project Tree Structures In this view, we can see that these project components are stored in a tree structure. Project components are grouped into projects, then folders are used to store the components in the correct order, according to their names in the application. The name of the application is the main project component for this particular application. Components are organized based on the name within the project name. It has been important for us to create a tree structure for this project because we want to show all components of application components. For the sake of this session, we will use the “Austin” project as the example application. Figure 3-2 Organizing Application Components In order to organize the projects and components as described above, it is necessary to create the necessary project folders. To do this, select the project (for the “Austin” project) in the list tree of items and then choose Open Folder Options, then click Open.
